Three Ways To Overcome Loneliness Of Working At Home

To prevent getting infected by the novel coronavirus pandemic, known as Covid-19, most of us have started working from home, and it looks like that this telework setup has made everyone’s dream come true.

Let’s face it! Who wouldn’t want to wear comfy clothes while sitting in front of your computer and sipping hot coffee?

We all dream of this life (of course, minus the Covid-19), but as the day goes by, working at home or having no company other than yourself becomes a lonely nightmare.

Have you felt that loneliness lately? You suddenly miss your co-workmates, the chit-chat during lunch break, and the multiple events you used to go to. Ugh! You abruptly wish you could go back to the old normal.

To save your sanity, here are the three tips for overcoming the loneliness of working at home. These are based on my journey over the past six months as I was transitioning from office to work from home.

1. LISTEN TO PODCASTS

    I tuned in to podcasts for three reasons.

    First, it motivates me, and listening to it makes me more productive.

    Second, it put me in a good mood.

    Third, I feel as though I have friends or colleagues sitting beside me while I am working.

    2. SCHEDULE A WORKOUT SESSION WITH A FRIEND

      We all deserve a break from work.

      Call a friend or officemate and ask him/her to be your online-workout-buddy. You may both enjoy Zumba or Yoga via Zoom. There are many videos that you can find online that can help you with your home workouts.

      Having an accountability partner is good because you motivate each other to stay fit and healthy. Shout out to Marielle for being my online-workout-buddy!

      3. JOT DOWN YOUR THOUGHTS

        Have you lost interest in jotting down your thoughts or plans in your 2020 planner? You’re not alone. I also have a bullet journal that I only used from January to March 2020.

        I stopped journaling because I don’t have the motivation to do it. I feel like my plans are already ruined by this pandemic.

        It was just recently that I started writing again in my journal and I feel so refreshed. 

        If you’re like me who finds satisfaction through cleansing the mind by putting thoughts into words, then do journaling. 

        Let your journal be your friend and you won’t feel alone.

        As I continue my Journal journey this year, I decided not to put dates and deadlines just like growth and healings.
