25 Things I Learned By 25

LIFE IS NOT EASY WHEN YOU’RE IN YOUR TWENTIES. In this chapter of your life, you're allowing yourself to dig deep and discover your true self.

Now that I'm 25 years old— celebrating my silver year this 2018, I've been reflecting on some things and thought I'd jot down what little wisdom I've gained from the past years.

So here are 25 things I've learned so far in life.

1. THERE IS NO SHAME IN STRUGGLING. It's okay if you are not okay. You should not pretend that you are perfectly fine 24/7 whereas the truth is that you are not. You should admit that there are moments of weakness.

In my case, every time I feel sad or weak, I look in the mirror and I say to myself: Everyone has the right to cry and you are not exempt. Just let it out.

2. BELIEVING THAT "YOU CAN" WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH.

They said, "When you believe in yourself anything is possible."

I agree with that, but I've learned that when you believe in yourself, you must add bold action to achieve it.

3. THE PAIN OF FRIENDSHIP BREAKUPS FEELS LIKE HAVING A LIMB CUT OFF. Unfortunately, that will remain part of my emotional memory.

4. A TRUE FRIEND WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU. You will know who's there for you when you're at your worst.

5. YOUR GREATEST TREASURE IS YOUR FAMILY. From highs and lows to successes and failures, your family will always be there for you.

6. REJECTIONS MAKE YOU BETTER. It's a chance for self-improvement. You may use the pain of rejection as an opportunity to progress with more wisdom.

7. DO NOT BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF. Slow down. Do not punish yourself if you're not where you want to be. Give yourself a break and understand one thing: you have your own shining time.

8. TAKING RISKS CAN LEAD YOU TO A BETTER LIFE. Taking risks is not easy, but when you consider that scariest steps and keep walking and running— you'll be amazed by the great things that you can do.

9. FORGIVING SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T SAY "SORRY" IS A SIGN OF MATURITY. When you forgive, you'll realize that peace is an essential thing in this world.

10. BE KIND. Being a good person doesn't guarantee that others will do good to you, too, but be kind anyway.

11. BEING CRAZY IN LOVE IS NOT THAT BAD AT ALL. It’s an experience full of lessons.

12. PAIN WILL MAKE YOU STRONGER. The pain of the past will make you stronger and less naïve.

13. YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE. Don't let that change who you are or what you're doing. Go ahead, be you!

14. BEING LOST IN LIFE IS FINE. It’s just a phase that will come to pass. You'll find your path someday.

15. PAST IS PAST. Sometimes you miss these people who are no longer part of your life, but you must move forward.

16. IT'S OKAY TO BE ALONE. It's okay to book a flight and travel alone, watch a movie alone, go shopping alone, or even eat in a restaurant alone. Remember, doing things on your own is no symbol of loneliness. Everyone needs a “me time” after all.

17. LEARN SOMETHING EVERY DAY. Either by reading, watching, talking, or listening.

18. FIND MENTORS. Learn from others who are already excellent at what they do. You need a mentor that will push you to your limits— a kind of mentor that motivates you to get better in your crafts.

19. THE MOST PAINFUL LETTER IS A RESIGNATION LETTER. If you put too much love into your work, saying goodbye will not be so easy for you, but it is a choice you must make for yourself to GROW.

20. SOMETIMES, YOU HAVE TO TAKE SOCIAL MEDIA CLEANSES. Shutting down the noise on social media by doing a mini-pause can be the healthiest limit you set for yourself.

21. RELIGION DOESN'T MATTER. You must RESPECT other people's spiritual beliefs.

22. DON'T BE A "YES" PERSON. You have the choice to say 'No' and that's perfectly all right.

23. COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS WILL DESTROY YOUR SOUL. Focus on yourself because the less you compare yourself with others, the more you can run at your own pace.

24. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. Sleep as much as you can, eat healthy food, and be fit!

25. And most of all, do not forget to remind yourself that you’re worthy of the great things that life can offer.
